Springfield's Favorite Family Makes Its Debut in Psyonix's Hit Game: But It's Not the Car Fans Are Hoping For

It was previously announced that the iconic animated series was collaborating with Fortnite, but that's not the only destination where fans can experience the universe of Springfield. The beloved show is also making its way to the popular soccer-driving hybrid, introducing an in-game car skin that will also be usable in the Fortnite universe. That said, whether players will truly desire to equip it is a different matter, as fans have their hearts set on just one Springfield vehicle everyone is itching to drive, and this isn't it.

What Fans Really Want

Although most players would absolutely enjoy to face off while driving Homer's custom creation—the notoriously impractical automobile Homer built personally in the classic installment "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—that's not what players are receiving. We aren't even receiving the massive SUV, the heavy-duty vehicle featured in the tenth season. Instead, fans are getting the family's standard well-worn sedan, which they've been driving since the show's early days. Though this specific vehicle has seen better days, it stands as an iconic element of the series. For those who pay attention to Rocket League car hitboxes, the trusty sedan uses the identical collision model as the Dominus body type.

Additional Themed Cosmetics

But that's not the only cosmetic from the series arriving in Rocket League. This limited-time event will also include a series of objectives to unlock additional rewards, all of which are Simpsons-themed. According to a press release, the challenges will require players to "get as many centers and clears as there are The Simpsons seasons, gather boost canisters as if your navigation is set to The Simpsons’ house, and travel a specific distance worthy of picking up the perfect donuts!"

While the full lineup of challenge rewards isn't yet disclosed, here is what has been confirmed up to this point:

  • Blinky topper
  • Homer's Hedges player banner
  • Waste wheels
  • 20,000 XP per challenge

Based on promotional images is any indication, it seems fans will also get wheels featuring a television showing the show's title sequence, alien antenna toppers, a sprinkled donut boost trail, and rocket boosts inspired by smoldering rubber and Krusty's famous restaurant.

Event Timing and Fortnite Connection

The Rocket League collaboration coincides with the major The Simpsons invasion of Fortnite's island, which includes a completely new playable area of the fictional town, as well as a month-long seasonal progression system. This special Rocket League and Simpsons event launches on November 1st and concludes on November 17th.
